A few tidbits to keep in mind.

First, the Nikkei 225 decline is MUCH worse than shown on the charts. In 1989, the Nikkei 225 peaked at ~ 39,000. A few weeks ago, the Nikkei was trading at 7900 - a decline of 80% over a 20 year period! That's on par with the 1929 Dow crash (no soup lines, life goes on). Don't worry though, the fed and wall street would never allow THAT to happen here.

Second, I would argue that the S&P 500's decline started in the year 2000. A foolish re-flation courtesy of Alan Greenpan notwithstanding. Greenspan's financial shenanigans made the majority much poorer. The Bush/Obama bank giveaways will make the majority poorer still.

Prosperity took early retirement with many in the financial community. Now the baby busters can't retire.

Thanks wall street. Enjoy the bonuses. Thanks fed.

Deutsche Bank’s Banziger Says Crisis ‘Far From Over’ (Update1)
By Aaron Kirchfeld

March 30 (Bloomberg) -- Deutsche Bank AG Chief Risk Officer Hugo Banziger said the global credit crisis is “far from over” and global financial regulations must be overhauled to regain investor trust.
“We are in the middle of it,” Banziger, 53, said today at an event at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. The industry has “an opportunity” to build a stable financial system that seeks higher capital buffers, and encourage investors to return money to the market and help stem the crisis, he said.
Deutsche Bank in February reported its first annual deficit in more than 50 years after the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression pummeled bond and stock trading. The crisis has caused $1.3 trillion in losses for financial companies worldwide, a total that may climb to more than $3 trillion, Banziger said today, citing forecasts.

SALT LAKE CITY - Police said a customer fired one or two shots into a Salt Lake City McDonald's after the driver of the car he was in was told the restaurant was not serving lunch yet. Police said the female driver of a white Dodge Intrepid pulled up to the drive-thru and ordered from the lunch menu early Sunday but was told only breakfast was available.
Police said two men then got out of the car and one pulled a sawed-off shotgun from the trunk, shooting into the drive-thru window once or twice, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday. No one was injured.
The car then left the scene.

.....the unfair advantage of an AIG (in insurance underwriting), a GM (in auto manufacture), a BofA (in banking), etc., spells doom for companies that have run their businesses correctly/diligently. They not only have to deal with a smaller "pie" (a more frugal consumer), but also a bigger 800 lb. pig at the trough (the subsidied competitor). It makes all firms much weaker. I tend to believe that the blow-up from "CDS warfare" would be less painful and much quicker than what will transpire by picking and choosing where you walk while disarming landmines. The present course though DOES give government control over "who lives and who dies" - usually according to previous campaign contributions. I think THAT is the CRUX of the decision-making; the "good-old-boy" network.

Anybody here that counters this with the typical "well, the Repubs did it first....." argument, is a bigger idiot than the ones doing it now.

On the FOUR BEARS chart, the Nazdaq bottom's out at 49.1% at month 30.

On the Mega-Bear Quartet, the Nazdaq bottom's out at around 78% at around the same time, what am i missing? The both start within 14 days on each graph.
