EHP says: It is a common thing for real estate agents to be paid a fixed price in other parts of the world.
When you consider the standardized nature of the activity in a home purchase or sale , it shouldn't be that hard to price a transaction piece by piece, add profit and overhead and apply over all price ranges. Upgraded services could be offered for additional cost.
new thread.... (old school, before all these new fangled bots =) )

It is a common thing for real estate agents to be paid a fixed price in other parts of the world. I would expect market forces to encourage the same in North America as people who have seen their house dramatically depreciate try to save every penny they can
I for one welcome our new comment (and homepage in the sig) overlords.
Seriously, Ken deserves some serious props. Delving into the js-kit crap-u-verse, I can assure you that the problems faced by the users are merely reflections of the problems under the hood. (No comment archive export function? WTF?!?)
Oops, CR did explain DAPs in an earlier post, with a link to Dap for Ubernerds.
Barney Frank,
Please, please, please go away, monkey boy.

Here's a very good and thorough explanation of FV and MBS from the NYSSCPA:

This site has excellent articles on current events for someone who wants a useful level detail on a subject.

DAP = Downpayment Assistance Program
Sounds like this will put any remaining mortgage brokers out of business and will further tighten lending standards which will prolong and worsen the housing slump.
Way to go lawmakers! Only about 20 years too late.

Ken - Love the new system! Thanks!!!
Lama - thanks for the link!
So, no more yield spread premium.
Does that mean all the loan officers at mortgage brokers go onto salary, or do they just lose their job as the company folds?
Between this and Obama getting rid of the mortgage interest tax deduction, it seems the RIGHT thing is being done for once. Of course, it will be wildly unpopular and the NAR will scream bloody murder, but who cares.
Hell, I think mortgages should be abolished altogether. Let people pay cash. That would make housing more affordable to all Americans overnight.
