That Barton Fink Feeling says:

As usual, the simmering of righteous anger in Lewis' cartoons sets him apart from the milquetoasts in this business -- the punch-pulling, genuflecting souls who've made the editorial pages of the MSM such tepid affairs. Cartoon on, Eric.

Yeah, and the last spike wasn't because things were all that bad, just that everybody who wanted to file did so right away to beat the deadline.

After that the bankruptcy buddies were dead and scared to death for quite a while because people who would have waited, didn't.

Black Star Ranch says:

Does anyone think the bankruptcy laws will be returned to pre-2005? I would normally say YES, but with the Banks running the "Big Show" nowadays, I'd say no. I wouldn't put it past TPTB to strengthen/harden them even further (debtor's prison and/or involuntary servitude, anyone?).

Obama Wants to Control the Banks
There's a reason he refuses to accept repayment of TARP money.

From Obama bank control link above:

"Here's a true story first reported by my Fox News colleague..."

From Fox News? Gosh, must be unbiased.

That WSJ article, linked above, "Obama Wants to Control the Banks," by Stuart Varney is interesting:

"If the banks are forced to keep TARP cash -- which was often forced on them in the first place -- the Obama team can work its will on the financial system ... ."

He'd be a little more honest if he mentioned that the banks' own circumstances forced them to take the TARP money.

Sheesh, the whole WSJ article is written by a Fox commentator.

ATM card and $19 in the bank says:

As I've mentioned before, I subscribe to the WSJ mainly for the high-blood pressure rush I get every morning while reading the editorials and op-eds (of which the Varney piece is one; sadly a typical one, too).

In fairness, the weekend wine column and Felten's "How's Your Drink?" are consistently good.

After that the bankruptcy buddies were dead

A few years back a BK lawyer I knew stated that he had left the biz because "there was no money in representing people who were broke". I'll bet he's changed his tune since.
