I just want to quickly point out that CRCizer can also act as a standalone comment system that could replace JS-kit. I emailed CR today and suggested as much, but I think he is going to go with whatever Ken produces.

CRbot has decided that he will not make the transition over to the proposed new system.

I think that honest people would at least have a discussion weighing the features already present in CRCizer vs this new comment system -- which is really just a stripped down version of Drupal.

Also, cost. You are expected to pay $5000 a year for this stripped down version of Drupal. CRbot has never taken a penny from anyone.

Yes, I understand that there are big plans. However, I know that CRCizer is already much closer to realizing those plans than vanilla Drupal comments.

But one gets the front page, and the other gets to post its own comments every now and then.

Goodbye mortals, you'll manage without me, I'm sure.

Yeah, obviously I disagree with this statement. Ken may be a great person, I have no idea, but web developer he is not. Not even close.

I don't comment much here, but from day one it was obvious that he wanted to mod drupal and was going to do this regardless of how much it made sense.

This is so confusing.

Outsider Fri Apr 3 19:13:20 2009 CDT #
briwerk says:

No I am not that Brian. I am CRbot's code janitor. I am not an alien. Yogij wrote the CRCizer, and I helped some on the back end by scraping comments into a database and linking it to CRCizer. I also wrote the code that synchronized comments back to JS-kit. Ken wrote the CR Companion Firefox Plugin, and set up these new Drupal comments. Confusion eliminated?

A good article. The point is after the cash infusion wears off - where is the demand going to come from?

Data from the JPMorgan March Global PMI provide solid evidence that the speed of contraction in global manufacturing is lessening at the present time. Indexes tracking trends in output and new orders generally continued to rise across the globe, and are in general now up significantly from the series lows registered at the end of 2008. However, both the output and the new orders indexes remained at very low levels, all still signalling continuing contraction and well below those consistent with anything resembling a recovery in either component

and

As far as stocks go Global manufacturers continued to unwind their inventory positions in March. Stocks of purchases declined at the fastest pace in the series history. Among the national manufacturing sectors covered, only India reported a gain in input inventories. Even here, the rate of growth was marginal. So one of the reasons why output levels may bounce back slighly in the next few months is that inventory levels must now be quite low in many cases, and to some extent new orders will need to be met from production rather than from stocks. In addition, we are in the middle of the stimulus programmes, and it would be surprising if we didn't see some impact on manufacturing output from all that money being spent. Another question altogether would be whether any of this spending is capable of gaining traction. With consumers all over the developed world battening down the hatches for a long winter, and saving as hard as they can to put some order back in their balance sheets, it would be surprising if the stimulus packages on the scale we are seeing them were actually sufficient to turn all this round at this point. So the outlook is, a few months of easing in the contraction, and then more of the same.

Under here, you just take my breath away

Under here, the water flows over my head

I can hear the little fishes

Under here whispering your most terrible name

Under here, they've given me starfish for eyes

And your head is a big red balloon

Under here, your huge hand is heavy on my chest

Ah, and under here, Sir, your lovely voice retreats

And yes, you take my breath away

Look at my hair, as it waves and waves

Sir, under here, I have such pretty hair

Silver, it is, and filled with silver bubbles

Ah, and under here, my blood will be a cloud

And under here my dreams are made of water

And, Sir, you just take my breath away

For under here, my pretty breasts are piled high

With stones and I cannot breathe

And tiny little fishes enter me

Under here, I am made ready

And under here, I am washed clean

And I glow with the greatness of my hate for you

Wisdom Speaker says:

CRBot's functionality is vital to our community. But it's understandably frustrating to have the underlying commenting platform changing constantly.

On the other hand, one must expect CR to choose a trusted source (not necessarily the technical-best source) for his commenting system, because the long-term success of the blog depends in large measure on the happiness of the commenting community, which in turn requires stability of the comment system.

One suggestion would be for CR to put up a thread now and then for the code-meisters to use to coordinate their activities.

Really, its quite quite unclear what software one is using - is it the beta test or the JS-kit ? given that uncertainty, it keeps me away from commenting in the first place ! But anyway, here goes nothing..

New Thread: Inflation vs. Deflation
http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/2009/04/inflation-vs-deflation.html ( 0 comments ...You could be FIRST! )

I also post comments to an irc channel as they appear on haloscan. Click for a web irc interface: http://realize.org/cr (Or join the irc server directly: irc.realize.org:9996 #calculatedrisk)

CRbot is now proud to have the honor of introducing a NEW ERA in CR comments. With the JS-kit, but not below the JS-kit. A independent but integrated solution for all CR fanatics...

Brought to you by the hard work, dedication, and carpal-tunnel ridden fingers of your own yagij (and to a trifling amount your lovable CRbot code janitor, who will be flogged later)....

But first, let me don my ever stylish-- trendy but classic -- black mock turtleneck.
And now, introducing the revolutionary new innovative revolution that will no doubt revolutionize CR comments forever... ENDING the era of agonizing over long, carefully crafted comments only to lose COUNTLESS MINUTES when your comment is eaten by the JS-kit gremlins... CHANGING for all time the way you talk about mortgage pigs, hoopajoops, red and green colored muppets, and born and bred dopes...

With no further adieu... CRbot gives you... THE CRC-IZER!!!!!!!

You can also find a index of the 10 most recent threads, with mobile links at: http://realize.org/cr/crcizer/phpCRo.php

Ahem. Now the skeptical amongst you might consider this to be a joke since it IS April 1st. I find such lack of faith disturbing. Click and BELIEVE!

yagij and CRbot: Now with more CRC-ized posting power. You can worship us a little now, mortals.

Barley, I think Paulson meant that would happen if Congress didn't approve TARP. I'm no fan of his, but he did what he thought needed to be done. History will judge him one way or the other.
