Visas for researchers
By BOYD F. CAMPBELL
Attorney at Law and Civil
Law Notary
Researchers
in a wide variety of disciplines may come to the United States to conduct
research for private, nonprofit, or government organizations. Such
researchers sometimes come to the United States on J-1 (exchange visitor)
visas or on H-1B (specialty worker) visas.
Participation
in a U.S. research program can lead to lawful permanent resident status,
based upon an offer of permanent employment. For example, research
participants in some U.S. government programs may be entitled to a waiver
of the two-year home residence requirement in J-1 visa status, based upon
an offer of permanent employment from the government.
If
you believe you qualify for a position as a researcher in the United States
and have an offer of temporary employment, please feel free to get in touch
with us.
